Danish Subtitle Generator
Add Danish subtitles to any video automatically. Upload a video with Danish speech and get accurate, timed subtitles back with æ, ø and å written correctly and the words the speaker actually said, not the ones they swallowed.
Danish is famously hard to transcribe: consonants soften or vanish, vowels merge, and the stød glottal stop carries meaning that is nearly inaudible. The transcription is tuned specifically for spoken Danish rather than for how Danish looks on the page.

What makes Danish subtitles different
Every language breaks in its own way. These are the parts that matter for Danish.
Built for how Danish sounds
Spoken Danish drops or softens far more than its spelling shows. The model maps the reduced audio back to full standard spelling instead of transcribing the mumble.
æ, ø and å
The three Danish letters are written correctly and exported as UTF-8, so they survive YouTube, VLC and editing software rather than becoming ae, oe and aa.
Copenhagen to Jutland
Standard Danish and the regional accents of Jutland, Funen and Bornholm are handled from the audio without a setting.
Compounds and English
Danish compounds stay as one word, and English borrowings are kept in their English spelling rather than being written phonetically.
How to add Danish subtitles to a video
Upload, review, export. No timeline scrubbing and no timecodes typed by hand.
- 1
Upload your video
Create your free account, then drop in an MP4, MOV, MKV or audio file containing Danish speech. There is nothing to install.
- 2
Generate Danish subtitles
The model transcribes the Danish audio, restores the consonants and endings that spoken Danish reduces, writes compounds as one word and times every line to the frame.
- 3
Edit and export
Correct any names or terms in the editor, then download the video with Danish subtitles burned in, or export a clean .srt or .vtt file.
Why Danish defeats general-purpose transcription
Danish is the Scandinavian language with the biggest gap between how it is written and how it is spoken. Soft d, silent g, vowels that merge into each other, and the stød — a glottal catch that distinguishes words spelled identically — mean that a phonetic transcription of Danish looks very little like written Danish. Even Swedes and Norwegians, who can read Danish easily, often cannot follow it spoken.
A model that transcribes what it hears will therefore produce something wrong. The one here has been tuned on spoken Danish and maps the reduced, blended audio back onto standard spelling: it writes the d that was not pronounced, the ending that was swallowed, and the word that was chosen by context rather than by sound.
From there it is the usual Nordic checklist. Æ, ø and å exported as UTF-8. Compounds written as one word. English left in English. Regional accents from Jutland to Bornholm handled without a setting. And the editor is there for the phrases that even a native listener would have to replay.

Frequently Asked Questions
Specific to Danish, not the generic list.
Danish is hard to understand even for Danes. Does it work?
Yes. The model is tuned for spoken Danish and maps the reduced pronunciation back to standard spelling. Very fast or mumbled speech is where it drops, and the editor is there for those lines.
Are æ, ø and å exported correctly?
Yes. They are written as the letters they are and exported as UTF-8, so they display correctly in every player and platform.
Does it handle Jutland and other regional accents?
Yes. Regional Danish is transcribed from the audio without any setting. Strong dialect is handled as far as the audio allows.
Can I export a Danish SRT or VTT?
Yes. Export a subtitle file for YouTube or DR-style players, or download the video with Danish subtitles burned in for social platforms.
Can I get English subtitles from a Danish video?
Translated tracks are on the roadmap. The Danish transcript comes first so a translation is made from a corrected source.
Can I edit my captions before exporting?
Yes. Correct the transcript, adjust timings, choose a caption style and then export the finished video or a clean SRT or VTT file.
